
Azo assures all possible assistance for college’s development
Kohima, September 14 (MExN): A pivotal meeting of the Advisory Board of Phek Government College was held on September 9, bringing together key stakeholders to address critical issues and strategise for the institution’s future developments.
In his address, MLA Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu emphasised the government’s commitment to supporting higher education in the district.
He also assured all possible assistance for the college’s development.
Presiding over the meeting, Rhosietho Nguori, Deputy Commissioner Phek and Chairman of the board, underscored the collective responsibility in steering the college towards excellence.
Dr. Levinu Sakhrie, Assistant Professor & IQAC Coordinator delivered a comprehensive presentation detailing the current status, notable academic and extracurricular achievements of the college, and the significant challenges it faces.
This presentation provided a crucial factual foundation for the ensuing deliberations.
The core of the meeting involved an in depth discussion on a wide range of pressing agendas.
It discussed on the pending incomplete construction of the college’s academic building and staff quarters, urgent need for repairing the college approach road to ensure smooth access for student and staff, measures for the protection of the college’s old campus, reorganisation of the Advisory Board and frequency of its meetings to ensure sustained engagement, strategies to tackle declining students enrolment and resolving the water supply issue plaguing the campus.
Concrete action plans were laid out, assigning responsibilities and proposing viable solutions to move forward on these critical fronts.
The gathering saw the presence of President, Phek District Chamber of Commerce & Industry (PDCCI), Chairman, Phek Town Council, President and members of Phek Town Public Forum, executives of Phek Town Chakesang Students Union (PTCSU) and members of the college's Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC).
Earlier, welcome address was delivered by Dr. K. Zumomo Ovung, Principal, PGC while vote of thanks was proposed by Shepalu Suyie, Vice Principal, PGC.
