‘AFPSA should be repealed’ demands civil orgs  

Dimapur, December 11 (MExN): The 14 Tribal Hoho of Nagaland has condemned the December 4 and 5 incidents at Oting and Mon town, where 14 innocent civilians were killed by the 21 Para Special Force and 27 Assam Rifles respectively and leaving several severally injured. 

Expressing anguish and sadness over the loss of the lives, the hoho demanded the Government of India to remove the Arm Force Special Power Act (AFPSA) and also to conduct proper investigation without leaving any stone unturned. It welcomed the decision of state Cabinet to apprise the Government of India to repeal the infamous AFPSA, “which is nothing less than a mechanism to give opportunities for the glory hunters with the lives of innocent citizens of the largest democratic country in the world.” 

It also supported the charter of demand laid down by the Konyak Union and to bring the same should to light without any delay. 

KVC: Kongan Village Council (KVC) in its condemnation cautioned the security forces and political leaders not to conceal the truth about the December 4 and 5 incidents, “when the whole world sees and knows what the world largest democratic country had done to Konyak Naga.”

In the guise of AFPSA many Naga had fallen a prey or victimized to this irrational Military Forces since 1958. “It is this time that the Government of Nagaland should learn and strongly urged the Union government to repeal AFPSA immediately. It is this time that Naga Government should strike when the iron is hot for it is this time that we should call spade a spade,” KVC urged. 

CPO: Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO) during its general body meeting held at Zapami Village on December 10 condemned the incidents. The house strongly felt that AFSPA should be repealed at the earliest. 

The meeting also seriously viewed to the ongoing 2-lane road project under Chakhesang jurisdiction and resolved any unauthorized elements in the form of individual/groups/village/town trying to disturb or hamper the project without any valid reason shall be dealt with all seriousness. It urged the authorities to be more proactive besides loudable service are being rendering. 

During the meeting speeches were delivered by Z Lohe, Former Speaker, Nagaland and Rev K Lürüo, Executive Secretary, CBCC and Former State Chaplain, Nagaland. 

NMC: Nagaland Motorcycle Club (NMC) has conveyed condolences to the families of all those who have lost their loved ones in the ambush carried out by the para commandos and in events that unfolded in Mon district. The 3 chapters of NMC namely Dimapur, Kohima and Tuensang while condemning those involved in the act said, “We stand with all those physically and emotionally scared, the Konyak community, the Nagas and with every citizen of Nagaland state in solidarity.”
