AHoDs and HODs meet discusses Republic day function

Kohima, January 8: AHoDs and HODs held its first meeting in the New Year of 2014 on January 7 in connection to the 50 years of Statehood celebration and the Golden Jubilee year and for the forthcoming Republic day celebration on January 26, 2014. Additional Chief Secretary and Development Commissioner, H.K Khulu chaired the meeting.

The meeting decided that the main function of the Republic day parade and the Beating of Retreat would be held at the Kohima Secretariat Plaza. As a mark of 50 years celebration of Statehood, the meeting decided to have exhibition by all the government departments to showcase their flagship programmes in the form of flexi-banner, audio-visual presentation, display of specific activities in a befitting manner to the people at large while commensurating the Golden Jubilee year.

The department such as Agri and allied sectors, Art and Culture, Tourism, Rural Development, Industries and Commerce, Veterinary and AH, Forest, Power etc. have to put up stalls for exhibition –cum –sale. It has decided that the exhibition by the departments will be held for 2 days and for the allied sectors and SHGs 3days to enable them to sell their produce. The exhibition will be held at Khuochiezie Local ground, Kohima in view of the greater participation of the public in the celebration.

Chairing the meeting, Khulu expressed his view on the celebration of 50 years of Statehood. He mentioned the state has to go down memory lane and has to have a vision for future. He said that Nagaland has to introspect itself as to how it started and what it has gone through and that the state should seriously take note for way ahead.
