AIDA provides farm mechanization equipment

Dimapur, March 14 (MExN): ANMA Integrated Development Association (AIDA) - Don Bosco, implementing SBI Gram Seva programme in Dimapur distributed farm mechanization equipment to farmers’ club of four adopted villages of Urra, Khriezephe, Bade and Diezephe. 

According to a press release from AIDA, the farm mechanization equipment handed over to the farmer clubs includes power tillers, tiller trolleys, grass cutters and lawn movers. Farmers club are formed in each village who will take ownership of the farm equipment. The farmer clubs too have put in their share of investment towards the purchase of the machines. Under the responsibility and ownership  of the farmer's club the machines will be rented out to other farmer's in need to generate revenue and aid in better Agricultural Production, reduction in time spent by villagers for agricultural activities and reduce farm drudgery. 

The equipments were flagged off by DC Dimapur, Rajesh Soundarajan, IAS on March 14. The DC Dimapur as chief guest spoke on the importance of various programmes and schemes available in different departments for the best use of resources for sustainable growth. He stressed on the importance of farm mechanization which helps to improve agricultural yield and economic growth among the farmers and reduce the need for manpower. 

Abinash Hembrom, SBI AGM RBO Dimapur, the guest of honour spoke on the importance of SBI foundation and explained that SBI also initiate programmes and activities to reach out to people in general and not just giving out loans from the peoples deposits. 

Rev Fr Roy George SDB, Executive Director, AIDA welcomed the gathering while Rev Fr Nebu Mathew SDB, the Rector of Don Bosco Dimapur said the invocation and blessed the equipment. A video presentation of the intervention of SBI Gram Seva in the 5 adopted villages so far was also presented in a nut shell. Mark Lanthou, Coordinator of AIDA for SBI Gram Seva programme proposed the vote of thanks. 

Meanwhile, a request was also presented to the DC from all the adopted villages for the scaling up of kitchen garden, mushroom cultivation, cuniculture and poultry development under MNREGA and for the SBI Sanjeevani health facility offered to the rural villages in and around Dimapur.
