Mokokchung, July 27 (MExN): The Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) has strongly denounced the alleged harassment of a minor girl in Mokokchung Town on July 25 and demanded disciplinary actions against the two police personnel allegedly involved in the incident.
It also condemned the reported altercations thereafter with the concerned family. According to the AKM, the incident occurred when the minor girl was returning from tuition with her sister on Thursday evening.
In a statement, the AKM expressed sadness and concern that “law enforcement agents, instead of safeguarding and protecting its citizens, are jeopardising their safety and well-being.” Such actions pose a great threat to society and are condemnable to the highest order, it reiterated.
“To ensure faith in the integrity of the law enforcement establishment, there should be accountability and an impartial investigation,” asserted the statement issued by AKM Vice-President Onenpong and Education Secretary Lanulemba Longchar.
Accordingly, the Conference urged the concerned authority to take appropriate and necessary disciplinary actions against the personnel involved without bias and according to the law of the land.
