
DIMAPUR, AUGUST 18 (MExN): The National Confederation of Bank Employees and the United Forum of Bank Unions, Nagaland had lent support to the All India Bank Strike called on August 22. The protest has been called against the privatization of public sector banks, merger and consolidation of banks and writing off corporate nonperforming assets. It further calls for declaring willful default of bank loans as criminal offence, implementation of recommendations of parliamentary committee on recovery of NPAs, ensuring accountability of top management for bad loans and stringent measures to recover bad loans, withdrawing proposed FDI Bill, abolishing the Banks Board Bureau etc. Other demands are against passing the burden of corporate NPAs on bank customers by hiking charges, against increasing service charges in the name of GST, reimbursing cost of demonetization and other government schemes to banks by the government, settling issues of employees and officers connected to demonetization, filling up posts of employee/officer director(s) in banks, implementing compassionate appointment schemes , reforms in pension related issues and adequate recruitment in all cadres.
