All road construction must follow specified guidelines: JPYO

Peren, December 10 (MExN): The Jalukie Pumling Youth Organisation (JPYO) today stressed that all road construction projects must strictly adhere to the standards and guidelines specified in the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and relevant PMGSY protocols.

The organisation, in a press release issued ahead of the commencement of road construction projects under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) from Kamdi Bazzar to Jalukie Town, stated that materials, processes, and finished works must meet the highest quality benchmarks.

With the road construction project is set to begin soon, the JPYO urged all contractors, engineers, and project supervisors to cooperate fully and contribute to the successful execution of these vital infrastructure projects.

It highlighted that the project outcomes must ensure durability, safety, and satisfaction for all stakeholders while fulfilling the objectives of the PMGSY programme.

To uphold these standards, the JPYO announced that it would conduct regular and timely inspections and evaluations of the ongoing constructions to ensure compliance with technical, environmental, and quality requirements.

It further cautioned that any deviations from the prescribed standards would be addressed promptly and effectively.

Meanwhile, concerning other road construction projects within its jurisdiction, the JPYO observed that the ‘breast wall’ on the National Highway (NH) 129A Package-II was not constructed as outlined in the DPR.

The construction of such structures is critical for ensuring structural integrity, safety, and long-term sustainability of roads, particularly in challenging hilly terrains, it maintained.

The organisation added that only approved materials meeting the required standards must be utilised in adherence to specifications to prevent landslides, erosion, concrete cracking, or wall failures, thereby avoiding future hazards and ensuring the success of the projects.

Regarding NH-129A Package-III, which covers a part of its jurisdiction, the JPYO noted that the road width is “very narrow compared to other parts of the road.”

The reduced or narrow width poses significant safety hazards for vehicles and pedestrians and is likely to cause traffic bottlenecks in the near future, it pointed out.

Accordingly, it urged the concerned parties involved to review the road width and address the discrepancies.

The JPYO expressed the view that high-quality, safe, and sustainable road networks benefiting communities across the region can be ensured through collaborative efforts.

In this connection, the JPYO instructed all concerned parties involved in the implementation of various projects within the Jalukie jurisdiction to ensure that the work is carried out as per the approved guidelines.
