“The allegation that the “encroachers from Jalukielo village escorted by IRB personnel stationed at Kakiho village fired upon Ghowoto villagers with automatic rifles and prevented Ghowoto villagers from defending themselves when fired upon by the encroachers” is far from the truth and a concoction of his myopic understanding of the presence of security forces in the area. The IRB personnel stationed at Kakiho, on learning of the firing incident rushed to the area to take stock of the situation and to prevent further escalation of the problem between the two sides. The arrival of the IRB personnel prevented the situation from taking a serious turn and prevented in loss of life and property,” the rejoinder stated.
Also, the note said the allegation that “On June 14, the encroachers abducted six persons from Ghowoto village while working in the fields and that the IRB posted at Kakiho did not take any action when the matter was brought to their notice citing the said dispute did not fall under their jurisdiction is a result of his misinformation of lack of information-sharing on his part.”
Elaborating further on the incident, the note stated that on June 14, the IRB stationed at Kakiho were not informed of the abduction by the Ghowoto villagers when it happened but on learning of the incident from the Kakiho villagers, the IRB personnel rushed to Ghowoto village to take check the condition of the situation. But, on arriving at the village, the security personnel were informed by the Ghowoto villagers that all the six abducted have reached home safely and that the problem was over. After meeting the villagers and finding that the situation was normal the IRB personnel returned back to their station at Kakiho which has been verified and ascertained.
“It is once again reiterated to all concerned that the security forces have been deployed to maintain normalcy of the law and order and to prevent loss of life and property of the villagers irrespective of the parties involved in the dispute. Such unfounded and false allegations without any iota of truth should not be restrained by all concerned,” the note stated.
