AUGUST 24 (IANS): Amitabh Bachchan took a trip down memory lane as his 1979 film Kaala Patthar completed 42 years today. Taking to his Instagram handle, the megastar mentioned that a lot in the film was taken from his personal experience in coal mines.

While celebrating Kaala Patthar's 42nd year, Big B shared a collage of three pictures from the film and mentioned that before joining the film industry, his first job was at the coal dept of a company in Kolkata, where he was required to work in coal mines in Dhanbad and Asansol in West Bengal. In an interview in 2016, Senior Bachchan had said, "Not many know that my first ever job was in Kolkata in 1962 where I worked in coal mines for 7-8 years.”

“42 years of Kaala Patthar ..!!! phew!!! Been a while .. and so many incidents in the film from my personal experiences when I worked in the Coal Dept of my Calcutta Company, my first job before joining the movies .. actually working in the Coal mines in Dhanbad and Asansol ...,” Amitabh Bachchan wrote in the captioned alongside the collage.

Produced and directed by Yash Chopra, with screenplay written by Salim-Javed, Kaala Patthar was released in 1979. The action drama, based on the Chasnala mining disaster, was Bachchan’s fourth collaboration with Shashi Kapoor and Yash Chopra after Deewaar, Kabhie Kabhie, and Trishul. The film also starred Shatrughan Sinha. Though the film did average business at the box office, it was critically acclaimed, and received several Filmfare Award nominations.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Amitabh Bachchan is currently hosting the 13th season of the quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati, and promoting his film Chehre, which will hit the theatres on August 27. He is also working on the Vikas Bahl’s directorial Goodbye and recently completed the first shoot schedule. The film also stars Neena Gupta, Rashmika Mandanna, Pavail Gulati, and Elli Avram.
