
The Nagas struggle for a separate sovereign Nationality had cost thousands innocent civilians, both rebel groups and Indian armed forces. Hardcore separatist of Naga nationalist and the moderates were the distinct forerunners but the initiatives and with the persuasion of the later, peace mission and the Nagaland Peace council eventually conceded to the emergence of Nagaland statehood in 1963. The role and effort of Nagaland peace mission members in early sixties including Jaya Prakash Narayan and Rev Michael Scott are laudable.
Nagaland mein Shanti ka Prayas (The prospect for Peace in Nagaland) a pamphlet publishes by JP who travels extensively to Nagaland in the early sixties which bears re-reading today. Wahan ke Islam par bhi bharatiyata ka rang chad gaya hai – their Islam is tinged with the color of Indian-ness. But the Nagas had not been influenced in the least by Indian culture JP argued. The trouble torn state and the people’s unique movement for separate nationhood had a major impact on the socio-economic and political life of entire North East India.
Fifty years later yet the people of Nagaland still fells rejected and marginalized due to apathy attitude of Central Government the State JD (U) hence put forward strongly on the sincerity of the central government at question and channelized the grievances by taking the sentiments of Naga public, the Janata Dal (United) Nagaland State Unit appeals to both State and the Central Government of India, the UPA-II to embark on a strategic and comprehensive planning in commemoration of 50 years of Statehood, and on behalf of the people of Nagaland the JD (U) had sought intervention of the President of India, the following packages:
1. Solution to Indo-Naga Political talk, sustenance & maintenance package of UGs until honorable and acceptable solution arrives.
2. Employment Schemes for 11000 dropout youth.
3. Sustainable project for 11000 BPL farmers.
4. 100% coverage pension for Old Aged with care Home.
5. 100% benefit coverage for Orphanage & Disabilities.
6. Special benefit scheme to Child & Women Development.
7. Basic amenities coverage to all villages.
8. Engineering & Medical College.
9. Ensure Safeguarding Naga Customary Laws & Revitalization of Cultural System (Ethos and Practices).
10. Urban infrastructures development to all District and Sub- Divisional HQs.
