The Anatongre Village today celebrated Thsonglaknyi Mentu festival with L. Khumo, Parliamentary Secretary Land Revenue, VG & Women Development, Government of Nagaland as chief guest at Public Ground, Anatongre. A host of party men, officers, Tikhir with tribal council members and citizens attended the festival.
Stating that time has come where no one can suppress anyone’s right, the chief guest said, “The Tikhir should not feel isolated or rejected but feel great that their history and culture is intact.”
“The struggle, be it of the community or individual, the solution lies within and to find cooperation and support is the only way,” he stated.
He also said that there might be more Khiamniungan in Tikhir land or more Tikhir in Khiamniungan land as we share boundary and share common assistor’s stock and added “if we mix blood, the colour will be same” and asked the gathering “to love one another as brothers.”
Khamo also assured to build VG barrack in the village and to look into some other developmental works in the village.
The chief guest also acknowledged the 7AR Anatongre post for organising medical camp and maintaining law and order in the village and asked the village council and citizens to give maximum support. he also asked the villagers to take advantage of the company by working hand in hand with the AR for the benefit of the village.
He also inaugurated various stalls put up on the occasion. K. Topan, president, Tikhir Tribal council and Longkamse, President, Tikhir Students’ Union spoke on the occasion. Significance of the day was presented by TD Yantong while folk song competition, cultural dance, folk fusion, Culture sports were the other highlight of the day.
