ANCSF urges Nagaland govt. to release payment

Dimapur, September 9 (MExN): The All Nagaland Co-operative Societies’ Federation (ANCSF) has urged the State Government to release the payments to those co-operative societies accorded sanctions by National Co-operative Development Corporation (NCDC) without further delay.

A press release issued by the President of ANCSF, Povotso Lohe, said that the Executive Boday of the ANCSF, during a meeting held on September 6 in Kohima, thoroughly deliberated on the latest position of the implementation of the National Co-operative Development Corporation (NCDC) sponsored schemes in Nagaland by the State Cooperation Department.

In this regard, the ANCSF strongly urged the state government to release without further delay payments to those cooperative societies under NCDC schemes who have already been accorded sanctions by NCDC from the first phase of 105 cases since lifting of the suspension of NCDC schemes in the state by the present DAN Government in January 2005.

The ANCSF also urged the department to vigorously pursue with the NCDC to obtain sanctions of financial assistance for the remaining societies of the first phase at an early date.

It also urged the concern department to dispose of a total of 173 cases in the second phase to the NCDC authorities for early sanction which are now lying with the state Finance Department for financial concurrence for quite sometime now.

The release further said that the Nagaland falls under the category of ‘cooperatively least developed’ and therefore, requested the state government to pay special attention to build strong cooperative movement in Nagaland for the uplift of rural economy through the active participation of cooperative societies.
