Dimapur, November 18 (MExN): The All Nagaland College Students Union (ANCSU) has expressed strong support to the move made by the NSF on the issue of superannuation of age with the demand to maintain the length of service pointing out that this provides ‘fairness to one and all in the government service’. This was stated in a press note issued by O. Wati Jamir, President and Shikavi Achumi, Secretary Finance ANCSU. “In the backdrop of the cabinet decision on enhancement of superannuation age to 60 years from the present 57 years, the State government without having any concern for the educated unemployed youth who are competent enough to render better service to the Naga people has shattered the hope of the youths”, the ANCSU stated.
The ANCSU was of the view that since every year thousands of student are graduating, only few could go for further study and remaining are left unemployed and that the decision made by the cabinet was completely against the wishes of the younger generation and the people at large.
The ANCSU pointed out that while it respected those few senior government servant doing public service, at the same time “many of not all become illogical and whose contribution in the public office are rather becoming liability than an asset”, the ANCSU stated. The statement also pointed out that the sectarian concept of government policy has undermined the capacity of youths with the decision passed by the cabinet.
“Therefore seeing the present situation of educated unemployment, the State government should seriously re-examine and review the job policy whereby any policy that is formulated by the government should equally serve the interest of the younger generation and the people which will benefit society”, the ANCSU stated.
