ANCSU supports PIL against Police dept

Kohima, September 5 (MExN): In connection to the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed in Gauhati High Court regarding backdoor appointments of 239 non indigenous inhabitants to Grade IV posts in Nagaland Police Department, the All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) has extended its fullest support and cooperation to the petitioners in the interest of the students’ community. A press statement from Temjennungsang Jamir, president and Benjong Longchar, general secretary, ANCSU alleged that the Police Department has violated the existing government Notification No. APPT-18/6/67 dated 19.09.1987 and Notification No. AR-8/8/76 Dated 28th April 1977 by appointing 239 non locals in the department during the past few years. “The Police Department is highly questionable by all the section of the society for blatantly appointing non indigenous against the 100% Grade IV posts reserved for the indigenous people of Nagaland,” it added. ANCSU was optimistic that the court will deliver justice in the interest of the general public.
