Wokha, September 7 (MExN): The Anganwadi Centre constructed under MGNREGA in convergence with Social Welfare Department at Merapani Village under RD Block Bhandari was inaugurated on September 6 by Project Director DRDA Wokha, Thungdeno Mozhui.
In her inaugural speech, Mozhui highlighted on the importance of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) which is soon to be implemented under MGNREGA in the state. She apprised the participants to expedite the process in order to avail the benefits through DBT. She also suggested the SHGs, NGOs and villagers to come up with innovative ideas to be implemented which will boost self sustenance and self reliance. The local entrepreneurs, NGOs and SHGs were made aware on how to control the market in order to uplift the economy of our local people. She appreciated the work executed and advised the participants in preserving the community/public property.
The VDB Secretary presented a brief report on the construction of Anganwadi Centre which was followed by special number from Anganwadi Children. A member of Mhankai Okho, an NGO based at Bhandari Town, also spoke on the occasion.
