ANGCTA boycotts Teacher’s Day celebration

Dimapur, September 6 (MExN): The All Nagaland Government College Teachers’ Association (ANGCTA) boycotted this year’s Teacher’s Day celebration by abstaining participation from any Teacher’s Day programmes in the state. To mark the boycott, teachers from all the Government colleges wore black badges throughout the day.

A press release issued by ANGCTA, President, Dr. Imtiwati Jamir and General Secretary Dr. Phyobenthung informed that this year, university and college teachers all over India led by AIFUCTO (All India Federation of University and College Teachers’ Organisation) and FEDCUTA (Federation of Central University Teachers’ Association) decided to boycott the celebration by courting arrest in order to protest against the adamant attitude of the Central government towards, among others, the demands of the teachers for immediate release of 7th RoP and its uniform implementation throughout the country.

In Nagaland, though normal classes were not disrupted, ANGCTA as an affiliate of AIFUCTO, decided to boycott the celebration in solidarity with the call of AIFUCTO and FEDCUTA.
