Angling competition at Musu Angling Club

  DIMAPUR, APRIL 28 (MExN): An angling competition touted as the first Mega Angling event of the year with a total cash prize of over Rs.2 lakh was held at Musu Angling Center, Hoito village, Dimapur on April 28.   As per a DIPR report, more than 150 anglers from West Bengal, Assam and Nagaland participated in the competition. The prize winning catches went to Temsu (5.240 kg), followed by Lanu Jungshi (5.007Kg) and Ben Longkumer (4.532kg). They received a cash prize of Rs.50,000, Rs30,000 and Rs.20,000, respectively with citations.   Limajungshi made the biggest catch weighing 5.007kg, while the first catch of the day went to Abdul M. Prizes were given till the 9th best in addition to 8 consolation prizes.   Head GB of S. Vihuto village, S.Vihuto Yeptho, who is also the President of the Western Sumi Kukami Hoho, graced the anglers meet as guest of honour. The DIPR report said Yeptho called for collectively promoting angling in the state, while appealing against the use of environmentally toxic chemicals for fishing.   Chief of Hoito village Khevovi Chopi, who is also the proprietor of Musu Angling Club, said that the competition was a not for profit initiative and rather for promoting angling while encouraging the youth. He added that it was a great joy witnessing participants cutting across communities coming together as one family and enjoying angling.   Secretary, Dimapur District Anglers Association, Pilato held that angling would greatly aid tourism as such a competition attracts people from other states and countries. “At the same time we also create awareness on conservation,” he added.
