Mon, September 7 (MExN): In pursuance of the Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) scheme of MoRD wherein all the MPs have been asked to adopt one village every year, Tokheho Yepthomi, Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha has adopted Angphang Village for the year 2019-20. In this regard, the MP convened a meeting with all the stakeholders on September 6 at DC’s Conference hall, Mon.
A DIPR report stated that the DC on behalf of Angphang Village Council expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the MP for adopting Angphang Village under the SAGY scheme. He said that the meeting is a preliminary meeting for deciding on the village developmental plans which will be subsequently brought under the SAGY scheme.
Addressing the meeting, Tokheho said that the meeting has been called as per the guidelines of the Ministry to discuss on the scheme that has been launched by the Prime Minister which is being implemented all over the country. He further informed that all the various departments which have been implementing centrally sponsored schemes will be required to put in some contributions to carry out development in the adopted village. He also requested the departments to kindly take note of the meeting outcome, discuss it with their Head of Departments and accordingly set aside something to develop the village so that it becomes a model village in the district. He also added that there will be no separate sanction for the scheme and that the departments will have to put in their contributions to develop the village. The MP mentioned that Angphang Village will be the last village to be adopted under Mon district and said that the next adoption will be other districts.
The MP notified that he would convene a meeting at Angphang village by the last week of October 2019, and said he will be expecting the departments to come up with some kind of arrangements/ programmes that will be taken up in the adopted village. He also said that by the end of January 2020, he will be submitting his 2nd quarterly report where he may have to give detail reports of different department activities in the adopted village.
A presentation on various schemes and projects that can be potentially taken up was given by SDO (C) Angjangyang, Yanithung Ngullie. The second presentation was given by Sumit Banerjee, Manager, Indian Post Payments Bank on how Angphang village can have access to digital banking and become financially inclusive.
