ANTA cautions taxis demanding exorbitant fares

DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 22 (MExN): The All Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA) today expressed concern that certain drivers are randomly harassing passengers/commuters by demanding fares up to Rs. 500 per passenger from Dimapur to Kohima and vice versa. Hire fares of taxis has gone up to Rs 2500 from the destinations mentioned, taking advantages of the festive season and shortage of taxis, a press note from the ANTA said. It warned such drivers that the ANTA has imposed strict penalties for such erring drivers in the form of termination from driving taxis, cancellation of taxi permits and fine up to Rs. 5000. The association meanwhile asked passengers and commuters to note the registration numbers of such taxis and call the ANTA helpline number of ANTA HQs Kohima (0370-2290147 Office and 9436694693 Action Committee) in cases of such demands of Taxi fares by drivers.
