MOKOKCHUNG, JANUARY 22 (MExN): The Ao Senden today asked the NSCN/GPRN (Khango-Hokato Vusshe) to immediately stop what it termed the ‘irrational persecution’ of Aolemba Longkumer, a bona fide member of the Ao community.
Reacting strongly to the press statement issued by the NSCN/GPRN (Khango) demanding accountability for the implementation of the MSME scheme from Longkumer, the Ao Senden said the success or failure of the programme was collective and not solely dependent upon him.
Among others, the NSCN/GPRN (Khango) has demanded the submission of cash vouchers and invoices for all machinery purchased under the Micro and Small Enterprises Common Development (MSE-CDP).
However, the Ao Senden pointed out that both Longkumer and the concerned department have already provided clarifications regarding the status of the programme.
The NSCN/GPRN (Khango) must “realise that he is not the sole contractor of the programme and must stop persecuting him,” it added.
To this end, the Ao Senden declared that it will “not lie idle” but take necessary measures when its bona fide citizens are being “irrationally persecuted” by any Naga political groups (NPGs), either by deeds or in words.
“Henceforth, the NSCN (Khango-Hokato) is asked to stop the persecution of Aolemba Longkumer immediately and stop testing the patience of the Ao Naga community,” it held.
Meanwhile, the apex organisation of the Ao Naga community said that the machineries of the Government of India and the State Government of Nagaland should perform their assigned duties in case of any corruption under their watch, and the NSCN (Khango) must not act as the “Government's watchdog.”
In this connection, it urged the Government of Nagaland to uphold the “rule of law and not act blind and deaf” when its citizens are under duress from NPGs in the implementation of government-sponsored schemes and to immediately take necessary protective measures.
