Mokokchung, March 5 (MExN): The 17th Edition of the Thailand International Folklore Festival (Thailandiff) was held from January 15 to 22 with activities spread over three provinces beginning from Nakhonpathom to Nakhonratchasima and culminating at Surin Province.
The Thailandiff is organised in collaboration with Surin International Folklore Festival of Surin University in the month of January every year, and is attended by cultural organizations from across the world. The 17th Edition saw participation from Mexico, Hungary, Bulgaria, Russia, S Korea, China, Indonesia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Israel, Bangladesh, and India. India’s presence was marked by four different teams from the states of Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Nagaland.
A seven member team from the Associates for Performing Arts and Theatricals (APAT), Mokokchung led by I Alempokba, former Director of Higher Education, Nagaland and Adviser to APAT attended the event. A senior team member was Guru Sangyusang Pongen, President’s Medal awardee. The Nagaland team returned home with participation certificates, and a medal for fashion show choreography. In a major recognition, I Alempokba was accorded the Diamond of Asia Award in recognition of his contribution towards the Thailandiff development. It may be noted that Alempokba has been representing APAT in this event for three consecutive years.
