Of late, there has been visible progress in road construction across most wards and colonies in Dimapur, which is commendable.
However, it is unfortunate that the Darogajan road—particularly the stretch starting from Zion Hospital to the Daroganjan Marketing Shed—remains in a deplorable and long-neglected condition. Despite the vital role this route plays in daily commuting and local transportation, it has not received the attention it urgently requires.
The deteriorated state of the road continues to pose a serious inconvenience to residents, commuters, and emergency services.
Through this letter, I would like to draw your kind attention to the long-standing neglect of the Darogajan Road, which connects the four-lane to Purana Bazaar (NH-29). Though often overlooked, this stretch serves as one of the most crucial approach roads in Dimapur.
Unlike other roads that serve individual colonies or wards, the Darogajan Road acts as an alternate route to Assam and connects several villages, educational institutions, hospitals, and public amenities. Importantly, this road also leads to the New Naga Cemetery, making it the route for many families during their most difficult and emotional moments—the final journey of their loved ones.
Despite its significance, the condition of the road has deteriorated so badly that even public transport vehicles, including autos and taxis, are reluctant to operate on it. Residents often have to persuade drivers or pay extra fares due to the poor road condition, which negatively impacts daily life, and local economic activity.
We, the residents and concerned citizens, respectfully urge the concerned department to urgently prioritize the repair and maintenance of this critical road. Timely action will not only ease transportation challenges and reduce the hardship faced by the public, but also reaffirm the administration’s commitment to inclusive development and the dignity of every community in Dimapur.
We sincerely look forward to your kind consideration and a prompt response.
