Kohima, August 29 (MExN): The newly constituted District Level Taskforce restricting Single Use Plastics under the Chairmanship of DC Kohima and Vice Chairman District Planning and Development Board, Gregory Thejawelie, as discussed in the meeting on August 28, has appealed to all the Government offices, institutions, schools including churches under Kohima District to restrict the single use plastic products.
The restricted items include all plastic carry bags with or without handles irrespective of size and thickness; Plastic cutlery including plates, plastic cups, straw, stirrers, etc; Cutlery and other decorative products made of Styrofoam; Polythene; Nylon; Poly-vinyl-chloride; Poly-propylene and Poly-styrene.
The taskforce has also appealed to all Government Offices and Institutions to stop the use of packaged drinking water below 20 litre capacities and also install alternatives like filtered water dispenser/RO plants. All government servants are further advised to carry reusable drinking water bottles.
