Dimapur, August 10 (MExN): The Government of Nagaland through the initiative of the Dimapur District Administration has designated the road stretching from Delux point to Dhobinala police point via Holy Cross police point as “Nyamo Lotha Road” in honour of Late Nyamo Lotha, one of the pioneers of Dimapur city.
The road was officially designated against his name in honour and recognition of his enormous contribution in social service particularly to the residents of Dimapur and Nagas in general, through his active participation in administrative and developmental sectors.
However, Dimapur Lotha Students’ Union (DLSU) stated in a press release that of Late, most of the business establishments/firms are seen wrongly using the nomenclature/name as “NL Road” which is indeed undermining the legacy and sentiments of the family and the Lothas in general. The Union added that since 2014, the DLSU has been persistently appealing all establishments/firms and institutions within the designated road to use the correct and official name as “Nyamo Lotha Road” instead of “NL, Road.”
In spite of the Union’s constant appeal, most of the establishment are still using unofficial name i.e. “NL, Road” and for which, the DLSU has taken serious view against those business establishments/firms and institutions for purposely ignoring an appeal made by the union. The Union therefore, felt sensible to make this final appeal to all those business establishments and firms and institutions that are still using wrong nomenclature/name to immediately change to “Nyamo Lotha Road” within one week from the publication of this directive. Failing to comply with this final appeal, the DLSU shall be compelled to take appropriate action for noncompliance, it cautioned.
