Dimapur, August 2 (MExN): Dimapur Battalion, Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) along with police representative launched a search operations in the general area Supermarket, Dimapur on August 1 apprehended one, Abdul Karim (32) with pt 32mm pistol, magazine and other incriminating documents.
The apprehended person along with recovered items was handed over to police station East Dimapur for further investigation, it was stated in a release from the PRO.
In another release, Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR(N) said that, along with police representative a search operation in Sailhem village, Peren district on July 31 based on specific information regarding movement of armed NSCN(IM) cadres carrying out tax collection in the villages around Khelma to Athibung, Jalukie Battalion was launched.
One NSCN(IM) cadre identified as SS Pvt Pongam(23) was apprehended with one AK- 47 assault rifle with magazine, sixty five live rounds and other incriminating items.
On spot questioning the individual revealed that he along with 20 other cadres were tasked to collect taxes from all households from existing villages around Khelma to Athibung. The individual along with seized arms and ammunition was handed over to Police Station Athibung.
