AR battalion destroys ‘temporary’ NSCN (IM) camp

Peren, August 12 (MExN): Jalukie battalion of Assam Rifles has allegedly destroyed a “temporary” NSCN (IM) camp in New Ngaolong of Peren district.

A press release from Maj L Vincent Patton, PRO, HQ IGAR (N) claimed that based on specific information regarding presence of armed NSCN (IM) cadres in New Ngaolong, the Jalukie battalion launched a search operation on August 7.

The column during search noticed presence of a group of 10 to 15 NSCN (IM) cadres in a temporary camp, “which is a noticeable violation of Ceasefire Ground Rules,” it stated.

“The column approached the Camp and asked the NSCN (IM) cadres to surrender peacefully as per CFGR guidelines on the morning of August 8. However, the cadres responded by bringing down heavy volume of automatic fire on the Security Force column,” the PRO alleged.

The release further stated that the NSCN (IM) cadres abandoned the camp and fled, while the “temporary camp established by cadres of NSCN (IM)” was destroyed by the AR column.

“The act of NSCN (IM) is a gross violation of the CFGRs signed between the GoI and the NSCN (IM),” it maintained.
