AR claim to have seized liquor worth around Rs. 2 cr

Kohima, September 5 (MExN): Troops of 36 Assam Rifles along with police representative launched an operation at Burma Camp, Dimapur on September 5 and seized liquor worth around Rs 2.00 crore. A press release from PRO, HQ IGAR (North) said 12 people were apprehended along with 5292 cases of illegal IMFL worth around Rs 2 crores and two unregistered Gypsy vehicles. The apprehended persons, according to the release, revealed the godown belonged to Mompamo, resident of Kohima, and was being used as transit for smuggling illicit IMFL from Assam to Dimapur and neighbouring areas. An FIR was lodged against the godown owner, while the apprehended persons and recovered liquor were handed over to East Police Station, Dimapur for further investigation. Meanwhile, 3 AR apprehended two alleged extortionists of NSCN (R) near Teen Patti in Kohima on August 31, according to a separate release from PRO, HQ IGAR (N). The two have been identified as Captain Akahoto Yepthomi and Kashika Jakhalu (Civil wing). Both the cadres with the recovered extortion notes were handed over to South Police Station, Kohima, it added.
