AR clears landslide, plant trees

Tuensang, August 3 (MExN): Tuensang Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) assisted civil administration in clearing a landslide on Tuensang and Kuthur road Link on August 1.

The road is the only link connecting Shamatore Town and Noklak. “On learning about the occurrence, a team was sent along with a JCB and the road restored for vehicular movement,” PRO, HQ IGAR (N) stated in a press release. 

Meanwhile, the Gashpani Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) organized tree plantation drive at Medziphema, Kukidulong, Piphema, Zubza and Nihokhu from Ajuly 27 to August 1 with an aim to reduce impact of global warming and to maintaining ecological balance.

A total of approx 1000 saplings, to include locally available flora and fruit-bearing trees were planted.

“The Assam Rifles will continue to organize such activities year round as part of the ‘GO Green’ initiative of the country,” it stated.
