Dimapur, February 12 (MExN): Assam Rifles in joint operations with Police made multiple arrests in Kohima and Dimapur districts on February 11.
According to a press release from the HQ IGAR (N), two ‘overground workers’ of the NSCN(R) were apprehended in general area Teen Patti, Kohima on February 11, basing on specific input.
The release stated that troops of Assam Rifles along with Police representative launched an operation and apprehended the two persons and recovered eight extortions slips along with Rs 8,630 in cash.
The apprehended individuals along with the recovered items have been handed over to North Police Station, Kohima for further investigation, it said.
In another incident, the HQ IGAR (N) stated that the AR in a joint operation with Police apprehended one ‘overground worker’ in general area Sovima, Dimapur on the same day.
“Based on specific input, troops of Assam Rifles along with Police representative launched an operation and apprehended one OGW and recovered one .22 Pistol and three live rounds of .22 pistol,” it said while adding that the apprehended individual along with the recovered items have been handed over to Chümoukedima Police Station, Dimapur for further investigation.
