Dimapur, January 18 (MExN): The Assam Rifles has conducted a number of awareness lectures on different issues over the past week.
A lecture on “Skill Development and Options to join defence services for Youth” was organised by the AR at Zipu village under Phek District on January 13. Various employment options for the youths in State and Central Government jobs like Security Force, Paramilitary Force, State Police and other Government departments apart from latest Government schemes, skill development and business start-ups was highlighted to the 24 youths in attendance, a defence press release informed.
The 36 AR organised a “Lecture on Government schemes on social welfare” for villagers of Beneru at Pedi, Peren district, on January 15. The AR Battalion approached various Govt agencies i.e., ADC, Forest Department, Block Development Office branch, the Manager of State Bank of India and CBPO to enlighten people about the ongoing projects. Around 30 people from Pedi area including Chairman, GBs, and Council members attended the lecture.
The 5 AR also organised an awareness lecture on “Assist Wildlife conservation: Amur Falcon” at Akuluto village on January 16. The aim of the lecture was to spread awareness of wildlife conservation and its importance in our eco system. The lecture featured about the migratory bird ‘Amur Falcon’ and called on the audience to assist in the conservation of the bird in Nagaland. A similar awareness lecture on Conservation of Amur Falcon was organised by the 22 AR at Akhen village under Phek District on January 16.
Meanwhile, to commemorate Veteran’s Day, the 40 Assam Rifles organised an interaction with veterans of Tuensang district on January 17. The interaction was conducted to promulgate various Govt welfare schemes and Army Recruitment Rally to be conducted in April 2018. A total of 48 veterans including 18 ladies participated in the interaction. Medical check-up of all veterans was also organised by the unit hospital.
