AR promote Amur Falcon protection through lectures

9 Assam Rifles and 15 Assam Rifles organized lectures to create awareness about Amur Falcon at Chizami village and Government Middle School, Shamator respectively on August 25. The lectures laid stress on importance of protecting Amur Falcons, stated a press release from Lt Col Amitabh Sharma, PRO, HQ IGAR (North).  

Another lecture on wildlife conservation was organized by 35 Assam Rifles at Assam Rifles Public School, Naginimora on August 22. The event was organised to spread awareness on wildlife conservation, the PRO said in a separate press release. Special emphasis was given on Amur Falcons to create awareness on the migratory bird amongst the children, it added. The lecture was attended by two officers, 45 students and 5 teachers.  

Meanwhile, 9 Assam Rifles conducted free medical camp at Khomi village on August 25. A team of medical staff under 2IC C Satyaranjan, CMO provided free medical assistance and medicines to 206 people – 80 males, 85 females and 41 children. Apart from the medical assistance, a lecture was also delivered on HIV & AIDS and health education, including precautions from common viral diseases. Importance of hygiene and sanitation was also explained to the villagers for healthy lifestyle.  

7 Assam Rifles organized an interaction with GBs and local organization heads at Anutongre, Akhegwo and Longmatre in Kiphire on August 23. The aim of the interaction was to spread awareness about civic assistance and job opportunities for the locals, a press release from PRO, HQ IGAR (North) said. The event saw a large attendance by GBs and youths of the region. At the end, a pledge was taken to work together towards development and maintaining peace in the region, it was stated.  

7 Assam Rifles also organized an awareness campaign on HIV & AIDS as well as importance of wildlife conservation at Agape School, Kiphire on August 26. Firstly, a lecture was conducted on HIV & AIDS its repercussions on society and individuals and preventive measures. Subsequently, youth were educated on conservation of wildlife by preserving the endangered species of migratory bird Amur Falcon for maintenance of diverse eco system. Besides the lecture, leaflets were also distributed to the locals of Kiphire Town to spread awareness. A total of 60 students participated in the campaign.
