AR raid at Phek uncalled for: NNC/FGN

Dimapur, July 27 (MExN): The NNC has condemned the raid carried out at the residence of Gen TM Rhakho, C-in-C, Naga Army, NNC/FGN, located at Hebron-I, Phek on July 26 by the 22 Assam Rifles.

In a release issued by Rali Wali, FGN, it stated that “the Working Committee (WC), NNPGs has declared that the Indo-Naga political dialogue is at a crucial stage and everyone is aware that the NNC/FGN is an integral part of the negotiating team. This implies that there is a de-facto ceasefire between Government of India (GOI) and all political groups engaged in a political dialogue.”

Stating the act as “disturbing”, it alleged the 22 Assam Rifles for continuing raids at residence of leaders of Naga National Workers in contravention to the spirit of ceasefire and political dialogue.

Apprising of the act, it said that the residence was surrounded by the security forces and “entered the house uninvited.” “This created much fear apprehension and fear to the local community,” it added. NNC/FGN through the release also questioned the AR whether they are aware of the ongoing negotiations between the NNPGs and GOI in New Delhi. Assam Rifles should not create situations. It is unwise as it further builds mistrust and erodes confidence of the people, it pointed.
