Kohima, September 7 (mexn): In a major hual, the troops of Assam Rifles seized drugs worth Rs 2.2 crores at Machi Sub Division, Tengnoupal district on September 6.
The drugs were recovered after the AR team intercepted a bike moving suspiciously in early morning hours along road Machi-Chelep, informed in a press release from Lt Col SK Sharma PRO (DEF), Kohima.
On being chased by the troops, the suspects fled leaving two bags in a hurry and brown sugar weighing 1.11 Kgs in 85 packets was recovered, it said.
“The assessed market value of the seized contraband is approximately Rs. 2.2 crores,” it added.
The seized items have been handed over to the Tengnoupal Police.
