Maligaon, July 9 (MExN): The Araria-Galgalia Broad Gauge Line Project, spanning 110.75 kilometres in Bihar, has entered its final phase with the commencement of statutory inspection by the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) from July 9 to 11.
Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) Chief Public Relations Officer Kapinjal Kishore Sharma stated this critical inspection marks a key milestone for the project that will enhance rail connectivity and operational efficiency in Bihar and adjoining regions. Once CRS authorisation is received, the route will be ready for full-fledged operations, Sharma said.
The project's final stretch between Rahamatpur and Pawakhali (79.27 km) now awaits commissioning, which will complete the corridor. Earlier, two sections-Araria to Araria Court-Rahamatpur (8.24 km) and Pawakhali to Thakurganj (23.24 km) - were commissioned in April and November 2024 respectively.
NFR Construction General Manager Arun Kumar Chaudhary recently conducted a window trailing inspection to review infrastructure progress. The flagship project includes construction of 64 major bridges, 264 minor bridges and 15 new railway stations.
Officials anticipate the strategically important line will become fully operational by end-2025, significantly boosting passenger and freight movement in the region.
