ARE NAGA INSTITUTIONS AND CHURCHES DOING ENOUGH TO NURTURE VALUE BASED LEADERSHIP IN THE SOCIETY?

Some of those who voted YES had this to say:
• Yes, Churches do as based on Christian works, it conducts various activities & events for the upcoming youths like camping, workshops, tours, seminars, etc. In all these events, the lifestyles, personality & outlook of our young youths are broaden through various resource person..

• Yes, there have been several noble efforts by Naga churches in particular to nurture new leadership based on Christian values, but we are yet to see the impact. Maybe the churches need to rethink their strategy because it seems to be outdated. Younger people are more accustomed to a new pedagogy of learning.

• Yes, but unfortunately we do not see any new thinking. The Naga Students Federation and Naga Hoho and other tribe hohos seem to be the breeding ground for future leaders. But unfortunately we are yet to see any one of them excel in a way that will make us all proud.

• Yes, to some extent. But leadership building new much more work. Just doing it for the sake of doing it will not help.

Some of those who voted NO had this to say:
• No, no our Naga institutions and churches have turned into privileged class like the 18th century French society. They are more into fashion, luxury cars, nice mansion and good political connection. Poor dedicated leaders of their contemporary are sidelined. Small program and big publicity. If these facts are not true, I have not woken up from my slumber.

• Nay both of them teach us to hate minister by saying they are corrupted, church never taught the people to save ecosystem as it is the largest mass media in the land.

• No and they cannot without the power of GOD. We claim to be a Christian state. Do we have this power?

• No, far from it, which naga leaders do we see living a godly life? Each is after his own.

• The outward show or superficiality of the so-called church leaders must be despised by one and all, just as Jesus condemned the Pharisees. We need to revamp our faith based on the intrinsic values and teachings of the new Testament, NOT respect for the haves and disrespect for the poor. Remember Lazarus and the rich man, at the end.

• No, Because they promote more corruption....!

• A big no, they are no less than the politicians who sell their souls for money

• NO, We still need a better counselors/educators and an honest & faithful servants in our Naga society for a brighter tomorrow.

• No...I think in theory they believe they are doing so, but if they were, the result should have been much better. Look at the degeneration in our society and you have the answer...Stop endorsing corrupt leaders, have the gumption to say we do not approve of what you have done wrong, appreciate the good and ask them to continue such activities and point out where they are wrong too..Be living examples themselves... selflessness is almost non existent in these organisations. It is time they asked themselves and the leaders in the organisation itself, to be examples with their lives. Conduct re-evaluation seminars continuously in small groups not the one day big gatherings. Work one on one... people need the personal touch.. celebrate the simplest person who may have a deeper contribution but not have the platform to share... Our schools and churches need to celebrate people from all walks of life..

• No, seems not really. I think many of our Churches initiated LEADERSHIP training are getting backfired...looks so intoxicated with LEADERSHIP issues even in every contextual settings. Our Churches must inculcate more on Servant- hood leadership training rather than in a rhetoric Leadership propaganda...

Some of those who voted OTHERS had this to say:
• The question poses a great introspection and retrospection for the upcoming Naga generations as, with all due respect, by seeing the value system of the Naga people from all walks of life in the current scenario where our moral principles in Christian belief are reduced to the caricature as the hypothetical and frivolous people living in the Banana Republic. Certainly not the epitome of a positive role model and of course not the God’s own Land of Festivals.

• I will go fifty-fifty. Though the Church ought to be a role model, it has failed big time in countering varied problems that it could have handled in the society. The church has become political and worldly which led the church to lose its focus as the body of Christ and being a transforming agent. However, we also need to remember that we are the church and as the church when we fail on our part, the church fails too. On the other hand, the church is established on the foundation of Christ, so no matter how corrupt it becomes because of human iniquity, there is still hope because it is through the Church God works and will work. So, there are some churches failing to instill good leadership in the society, nonetheless, there are other who are striving to bring transformation in the society by building good leaders.

• It’s a 50-50.. some churches and schools are starting to concentrate on nurturing value based leadership to youngsters, but there is still a long way to go. Let us no just jump to assumptions . Btw it would be very good if the same training or as what you say "value based leadership" must be equipped/given to adults as well (which may be even the need of the hour looking at the poor state of our present society)
