Are you satisfied with how the NPSC is functioning?

Some of those who voted yes had this to say:
•    They apologized fast this time thus saving lots of time
•    For an office like NPSC, they will always get criticisms whether they are doing good or bad. Not everyone will pass through NPSC. From the thousands of Nagas that have sat down for NPSC, only a few people will pass through and move on to become officers. So for those many who have not got through, they will mostly have nothing by strong criticisms. But till date, nothing substantial has been provided to back up their accusations. This does not mean that NPSC is perfect, no, its not perfect at all, and there is much room for improvement. In the scenario where the function, I feel NPSC has done well. They have produced some fine officers – not all, but at least a few. Their format however needs to change, so that they can become better in their functioning.
•    Looking at the over-all situation of the state and the bad law and order situation, the NPSC has been functioning well. It has been able to keep the system going and it has not failed to produce Naga boys and girls into responsible government civil servants. It is the politicians and wealthy families that is corrupting some of the NPSC officials and workers. But, the NPSC has remained intact and is producing good results. We all should be proud of them.
•    NPSC is functioning well. The candidates who do not qualify are the ones who are trying to put a bad name to NPSC. The public attitude towards NPSC needs to change, so that NPSC can become better in all aspects. So far it is doing a very good job.

Some of those who voted no had this to say:
•    Not at all. The recent debacle where the NPSC recalled the results must be the first time it has happened in India. This is just utter chaos and incompetence.
•    The people at the helm of power have misused their prowness and ruined many a promising careers. Just because they have recommendations from the higher ups do not make a candidate qualified. The selection criterion must be revamped for clear transparent selection on the basis of merit.
•    When will our leaders learn that the future generation has been ruined by their greediness and selfishness.
•    I have appeared for the interview 5 times in a row. But the bosses think am not well qualified. There has been partiality in the selection process.
•    No body is satisfied with the whims of NPSC. Inspite of the scandals, it has shown that corruption cannot be corrected in a day. There will still be corruption what ever be the situation.
•    The rules of the institution do not comply to the general populace.
•    NPSC being the apex body for conducting the highest competitive exam in the state has full of short coming despite the students unending quest for a free and fair examination. today we can see the cheapest of way of selecting whereby the NPSC couldn’t even find itself the accurate solved answer making it a laughing stock...we have to blame ourselve..for letting such cheap practice still going on at the highest exam system of our state....
•    No, NPSC has done nothing to indicate that it has been functioning well. As the premier organisation for recruitment it should be functioning smoothly like a well oiled engine, but all that we hear is about corruption and more corruption. When we hear about the rampant corruption that has been going on for years, the public loses trust and it begins to doubt some of the present officers in the NCS and NPS. Some of the present officers in Nagaland have not shown any worthiness in their work and its makes you doubt how they were able to get into the NPSC. All that NPSC does now is create suspicion and distrust on all those who have got into NPSC. The department needs to be re-organized and it must be free from any government interference. I wish the government will take the opportunity to make amendments to the NPSC.
•    What more can I say?  Should I cry or laugh? Should I be ashamed or angry? The likes of NPSC, NU, etc makes me feel all of these and more!
•    No, NPSC most corrupted and its officials are not doing enough. Mover over I feel they are not efficient.
•    Strong No. The way NPSC function is very cheap, shameful and misleading, manipulating, lack of transparency and accountability. NPSC miserably failed and has been failing is reflected in today life too. NPSC should stop working for commissions since NPSC is not a supermarket where good are free to family members and to others goods are sold above the market rate. Need revival and uphold NPSC in letter and spirit for the good of society.
•    De highest recruiting body of the state knee deep in corruption and controversies..it's high time to clean up!!
•    How can they make such a mistake over n over again? Are they not being paid enough salary that they are neglecting their duty or is it that they themselves need to appear cos I don’t think they are fit? SHAME  SHAME
•    In my opinion everything under NPSC should be revamp and new policy and new members should be appointed.
•    No, not at all. It’s a shame, disgrace for all the Nagas.
•    People have lost faith in the present NPSC. They should conduct a new prelims all over again in the JEE pattern where a carbon copy of the answer sheet in provided in the examination hall itself.
•    NPSC is rotten to its core. At the same time NSF is also no better than NPSC.NSF should not only write up articles in the newspaper once in a blue moon about NPSC but should take up some positive action. Executive members of NSF, you are elected for a purpose and not for building your political carrier .It is a known fact that the voice of the executives of NSF become silent by money .So one should not expect much from the NSF because they will not be able to resist money even in this recent NPSC controversies.
•    Not at all. The system is a mockery. Ever since its inception, there has been hues and cries of misconduct.
•    The recent spate of criticism and hulla bulla of deficient workmanship of the states highest recruiting body indicates how many times and how much do NPSC in general lack in governance. The functioning unit of the Commission is to be blamed. Too much of politiking have ruined the system.
•    Not at all. The system needs divine intervention.
•    There should be transparency in the system.
•    Conducting system is not fair.
•    They are polluting Nagaland by unfair means.
•    Errors in the NPSC has become too many. We dont expect the commission to do so many careless mistakes.
•    No, the NPSC is not doing enough. They need to streamline and get more organized in the conducting of examinations otherwise boycotting and strikes by students will be the order of the day.
•    No more word to say about NPSC. On second thought, NPSC should be put away carefully into archive section.
•    Am sure the whole; lot will agree with me that NPSC has become a mere tool of making money for those involved in it. The state's highest recruiting institution has become a joke looking into the recent scandals and revoked results to the recently conducted exams..

Some of those who voted others had this to say:
•    The NPSC system is flawed and the appointment system to the NPSC is also wrong. Since the NPSC is the recruiting institution for government employees who will decide the fate of the state, the appointment of officers to man the NPSC is equally if not more important. The NPSC must be a body that is beyond politics and free from corruption. Therefore it is wrong to have government employees posted to the NPSC. This itself have opened much room for corruption and misuse of power. To see that the NPSC is free from political influence and corruption, the people who are manning the NPSC must not be people from the usual government employees. Of course in terms of running the offices, government employees are required, but as far as the selection process and the policy making of NPSC is concerned, it must be people who are outside the chain of government employees.
•    The problem faced in NPSC is more than just the failure of the department. It depicts the level of corruption and bad governance prevailing in Nagaland state. If politicians and the big shots would not interfere in the functioning of NPSC, than maybe things will be better, but the fact is that from politicians to undergrounds, everyone seems to be so interested in dirtying their hands in NPSC. Why? Because government jobs are revered in Nagaland since there is no other form of employment. The failure of NPSC lies not just with those running the department, but it is the failure of the Nagas because we have put government employment above honesty.
•    What we need is a better system which will be responsible for recruiting the future bureaucrats and police officers of Nagaland.
•    The NPSC is beyond repair. A new department is required which will do the job with fairness. When future bureaucrats and administrators get their job through unfair means, how does one expect them to be honest in their work?
•    Integrity, credibility, efficiency seem to be eluding the premium recruiting body and I think bereft of those elements are the root cause of al the scandals, irregularities, etc. Humankind is fallible by nature but this does not give us the license to be mistake-prone. If the NPSC is not afraid to tell the truth and the courage to do a right thing and deliver a fair justice to all the deserving aspirants even at the cost of losing their service in defiance of shady design and the powers that be than it will certainly pave the way for a bright future for the state and the coming generation as well. The role of the SIT plays in it is like distinction without any difference and bound to be mediocre at best as we don’t expect much at the outcome of its probe. It seems that these NPSC people are good at convincing but not at performing while the citizen’s confidence in it is about to take a nose dive. “How many roads must a man walk down before the call him a man.” Food for thought.
