Army, NFR hold joint exercise to boost crisis response

DIMAPUR, MARCH 19 (MExN): A high-level scenario planning exercise was conducted in Guwahati on March 18 under the 101 Area and Headquarters Eastern Command of the Indian Army, in collaboration with the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), to strengthen coordination and preparedness for national contingencies.

According to a press release issued by NFR Chief Public Relations Officer Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, the exercise brought together senior officials from the Indian Army and NFR to align operational mechanisms for a coordinated response during crises, particularly in the strategically sensitive eastern sector.

The session focused on understanding mutual strengths and optimising available resources between the two organisations. Participants deliberated on a range of potential scenarios aimed at enhancing operational readiness.

The release stated that special emphasis was placed on the development of dual-use infrastructure to bolster logistics capabilities while enabling savings in government expenditure through shared resource utilisation.

Senior officers from NFR, Eastern Command and Army Headquarters took part in the discussions, sharing inputs to improve inter-agency coordination and response strategies.

The exercise identified key areas for collaboration and established a framework for integration between the Indian Army and Indian Railways, the release added.
