Assam-born woman enters Guinness Records for buying costliest Cognac shot

Dimapur, March 27 (MExN): An Assam-born woman has entered the Guinness Book of Records for buying the costliest shot of cognac ever!   The 40 ml shot of Rome de Bellegarde served at London’s Hyde Kensington bar on March 21 evening cost a whopping £10,014 (approx Rs. 9.20 lakhs). The bottle was discovered in cognac house Jean Fillioux’s cellar in 2004 and is believed to have been from the very first blend created by the distiller in 1894.   According to the Press Association, Ranjeeta Dutt McGroarty, the founder and director of Trinity Natural Gas, was the first to experience the rare tipple. In the process, she broke the Guinness World Record for the costliest price paid for a shot of cognac.   Assam-based Time8.com claimed Ranjeeta as a Guwahati-born woman who graduated from Handique Girls College in Guwahati before going on to attend London School of Economics.   The previous Guinness World Record for the most expensive cognac sold was for 68,000 Hong Kong dollars (£7,072) at the Inter Continental Hong Kong, on November 9, 2016.
