Assam down town University holds 7th Convocation Day

Guwahati, October 21 (MExN): The Assam down town University (AdtU) celebrated its 7th Convocation Day October 19. 

Unlike other times, the convocation was held virtually amid the COVID-19 pandemic and broadcasted live on the University’s Official YouTube Channel and attracted large number of students and parents from all over the country and abroad, a press release from AdtU informed. 

A total of 860 students and scholars passed out at the convocation, out of which 647 got Bachelor’s degrees, 209 Post Graduate’s degrees and 4 were awarded PhD degrees, it said. 

AdtU encourages the students by awarding the title of Best Graduate and Post Graduate annually and in 2020 Napolina Kishor Pathak of BSc. Microbiology, Faculty of Science and Kashmiri Sonowal of M.Pharm, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences were awarded Best Graduate and Post Graduate respectively, it added. 

Prof Bandana Dutta, Dean of Studies, AdtU awarded the PhD Degrees to the four scholars -  Debojit Bhattacharya, Abhijit Duda , Banajeeta Sharma  and Manashi Mazumdar. 

A special award category of Appreciation for the Best Placement Achiever of the year was also awarded to Siddharth Das of BTech CT&IS.  He received a total of 7 Placement Offers bagging the highest package of Rs 10 lakh per annum, AdtU informed. 

Earlier, the Chief Guest for the Convocation, the Chancellor, AdtU, Dr NN Dutta started the award ceremony with a welcome address, followed by a speech by Prof (Dr) N C Talukdar, Vice-Chancellor of AdtU. 

Many other dignitaries from the academic world, industries; AdtU’s trustee members; former Vice-Chancellor and current Advisor Prof (Dr) Amarjyoti Choudhury; and first AdtU VC, Dr Nandita Choudhury also attended the convocation.
