Dimapur, April 25 (MExN): 37 Assam Rifles busted an alleged detention centre of GPRN/NSCN at Half Nagarjan in Dimapur on April 17. Two GPRN/NSCN cadres identified as Sergeant Major Toluto Chishi (35) and Lieutenant Kherito Yamchunger (31) were apprehended during the search operation which was conducted in the presence of representative from Nagaland Police, a press release from Assam Rifles said.
“The search also led to recovery of various incriminating documents, revealing their involvement in the heinous crime of running an illegal Detention Centre,” the AR added.
The release further said that one youth who was abducted by GPRN/NSCN cadres on April 16 was also rescued during the search. “During the physical examination of rescued individual, several torture marks were found on his body. The rescued individual revealed that the marks were due to physical assault/ torture by the apprehended GPRN/NSCN cadre on the night of April 16.”

32 AR apprehend arms peddler
In a separate incident, 32 Assam Rifles along with police representatives apprehended one arms peddler from a house at NST Colony in Dimapur on April 21. According to a press release from Assam Rifles, one .38 mm revolver, one live rounds of .38 mm revolver and some “incriminating documents” were recovered from the house. The arrested person identified as Bhondu (21) was handed over to East Police Station, Dimapur with all the recovered items, the release added.
