DIMAPUR, May 5 (MExN): Assam Rifles conducted two separate community engagement programmes in Nagaland on May 5 aimed at promoting health awareness and fostering youth interaction.

In Tesen village, Peren district, the Assam Rifles organised a Malaria Awareness Campaign at Christian High School. A total of 30 schoolchildren, 8 teachers, and 20 villagers attended the session. The programme covered causes, symptoms, and preventive measures of malaria, with emphasis on early detection and hygiene practices to reduce mosquito breeding. Medical supplies, including antimalarial medicines and hygiene kits, were distributed to the participants.

On the same day, a separate event titled “A Day with the Company Commander” was held at Chakabama. Sixty-five students from Government High School Kikruma and Cimorb Public School, Kezo Town took part. Activities included a ceremonial flag salute, a lecture on career opportunities in the armed forces, physical fitness competitions, self-defence demonstrations, and a life-saving skills session. The programme concluded with a prize distribution ceremony for competition winners and presentation of participation tokens.

Assam Rifles stated that these events were part of its continued outreach initiatives to engage with local communities and support public welfare.
