‘Assault an insult to Zeliangrong; Orgs. flay Dec 1 incident

Dimapur, Dec 2 (MExN): The Zeliangrong Union Kohima has questioned the motive of the four armed miscreants who abducted and brutally assaulted two youths in Kohima on the night of December 1. Condemning the “uncivilized act” of assaulting without any reason Keyichetlube Pame, a lecturer of Modern College Kohima and Mituatei, a Statistical Assistant with the Medical Directorate, the union through its General Secretary Amos Pame, reminded that the two are bona fide members of the Zeliangrong community. The union strongly made clear that the act is an insult to the community and Zeliangrongs shall not remain silent spectators.

Stating that the two are respected figures who are looked upon as bearers of the future for the people, particularly the students, the union expressed disgust that as if the torture was not enough, the miscreants robbed the victims off their wristwatch and mobile handsets. The union, questioning the motive behind the attack and whether the armed miscreants were from underground groups or “self-vested interest persons”, stated that the act ‘in the name of national workers’ is an insult to the Zeliangrong community and the union would not remain a silent spectator. While urging other sections of the society to condemn the assault, it also asked concern authorities to seek out the culprits and award them exemplary punishment at the earliest so that such incidents do not reoccur. It also prayed for the speedy recovery of the victims.

The Kisha Luangria Zeme Community, Kohima, also strongly flayed the assault. The community, through its Chairman DS Namrei stated that such violence must cease and called upon all right-thinking citizens to condemn the barbaric act perpetrated on innocent public.
