Assault of Rev Luruo a sign of loss of political vision – NBCC

Dimapur, Jan 3 (MExN): The assault of Executive Secretary of Chakhesang Baptist Church Council Rev. Khrutsoyi Luruo on December 30 by NSCN-IM cadres clearly indicates the loss of political vision and direction and Nagas can no longer trust in reckless leadership of any regime for a future, says the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC). The council strongly reminded the undergrounds that they should not be deceived into thinking that public support remains – rather, their (undergrounds’) reckless actions perpetrated on the public as well as the bitter factional rivalry has only alienated the people away from the cause.

“The action also tells of the loss of political vision and direction. Certainly, Nagas cannot place their trust on mindless and reckless leadership of any regime to hope for a bright future” the NBCC pointed out through its General Secretary Rev. Zhabu Terhuja in a note expressing discontent over the assault.

NBCC, condemning the assault Rev. Khrutsoyi Luruo who is also an executive member of NBCC Peace Committee, also held opinion that if a most respected church leader could be treated in such as way as he was subjected to by the NSCN-IM cadres in a mission compound, there certainly are more harassment in higher degrees going unreported.

“All underground groups must stop harassment and violence once for all. Each one of them must not deceive itself thinking the support of the public is with them because their actions on the public and bitter rivalry amongst them have distanced the public far from them” the NBCC strongly reminded. The only road to finding a lasting peace and development is through openness, dialogue, and understanding, admission of responsibility, healing and reconciliation, NBCC pointed out.
