The 11th general conference of the Akedah Sangtamlaru Thisngmujang (AST) commenced today under the theme ‘Role of women in progressive society’ at Kiphire with Er Sao, President USGOU as chief guest at local ground, Kiphire.
Addressing the gathering, Er Sao said that women play a vital role in any society and has the capacity to reshape the society for better or for worst. He challenged the women present to choose the right path for better society. He also said that women are precious in any community but many a time women do not know their gift and is being misused in many cases and asked the women to know the gift and the values they have to make good use of the potentiality they are gifted from above.
Calling upon the women present to be more responsible, Sao said, “in times like this where there is differences and mistrust, women can build a bridge to link the gap by adopting right motive and choosing the right path.”
Vikheto, Executive Chairmen, USLP addressing the gathering asked the women to be a torch bearer of peace and also encouraged them to share equal responsibility with men in all front. Daniel Sechopi, Executive Secretary, USSC in his address shared on the importance of preserving culture and tradition as most of the traditional outfits are made by women. Leochum V presented special song while Lisela, Executive Secretary, AST welcome the gathering.
