Appeals to preserve natural resources and take care of public property
Dimapur, August 17 (MExN): Ao Students’ Union Dimapur (ASUD) in collaboration of Dimapur Municipal Committee (DMC) is carrying out renovation works along the 190 metre long sidewalk located near PWD office, Dimapur.
The site will be soon be transformed into a stretch of modern artwork by a team of five artists, informed a press release issued by ASUD President, Lanutoshi Aier and General Secretary, Moayanger Jamir. The Union will also be constructing a recreational space at Supermarket area in the coming months, they added.
Both projects are being undertaken in commemoration of the ASUD’s Golden Jubilee celebration which is scheduled to take place in November 2018. In this regard, the Union seeks the good wishes and moral support of friends from different communities.
“With climate change and disaster management strategies assuming much significance in the present century,” the ASUD opined that it is high time for Dimapur people to take the lead in preserving our natural resources and take care of public property. “It is disheartening to see how we willfully cause damage to basic amenities around town which have been constructed for our use,” the Union expressed.
The ASUD has therefore, urged the educated young people to come forward and lend a helping hand to initiatives such as A Better Dimapur, the Team Clean and Team Green, “as these endeavours provide us a chance to put our years of education to good use.”
Meanwhile, the ASUD has acknowledged DMC for doing its best to bring about all-round upliftment of Dimapur town. “We repose our full faith in our Administrator, Moa Sangtam and are confident that under his able management, Dimapur will continue to achieve greater milestones in days to come,” the Union added.
