Athuan Abonmai case: CM to discuss issue with Amit Shah

In regard to the Athuan Abonmai murder case, Manipur Chief Minister, N Biren Singh informed the media persons that understanding people’s sentiment and seriousness of the case, the State Government had written to the authority concerned of the Central Government twice to hand over the case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

Informing that a copy of the FIR of the case has also been attached in the last letter, Singh stated he would talk to Union Home Minister, Amit Shah during his Delhi visit beginning today.

The CM was attending the 125th birth anniversary of Jana Neta Hijam Irawat at Irawat Square in Imphal on Thursday with cabinet ministers, MLAs, officials and public offering floral tributes to the statue of the late leader.

Regarding the proposed visit of Vice President of India, M Venkaiah Naidu to the State, the CM said it would be a part of the Vice President’s tour to the NE region. 

United Naga Council condemns murder 

The United Naga Council (UNC) condemning the murder of Athuan Abonmai, said that it deeply regretted and saddened at the brutal killing of Athuan Abonmai, former president of Zeliangrong Baudi of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland (ZB-AMN) on September 22 near Pallong under Tamei sub division of Tamenglong district, after he was abducted by some unknown persons.

The UNC condemned such a killing of a public leader and appealed to all to shun any such act of violence in the near future. 

“In his untimely demise, the UNC joins with the bereaved family members and his tribe community in sharing the grief and sorrow for the loss and we also pray for the departed soul, and that, may the good Lord rest him in eternal peace,” UNC said in its message.
