Dimapur, September 6 (MExN): The ATMA Dimapur, Dhansiripar block “releasing the commercial potentials of dragon fruit in Nagaland,” conducted training, inauguration of farm school and mobilization of farmers group programme at Kiyeto village on September 4.
A press release issued by Moainla, BTM-ATMA Dimapur stated that during the training, resource person Kunoto Y Chishi, HEA, Department of Horticulture, Dimapur spoke on the topic Cultivation technique and Management of Dragon fruit”. He emphasized on planting techniques, propagation, irrigation, canopy management, manures and fertilizers, intercultural operations, pests and diseases and harvesting.
A farm school on “Dragon fruit” was also inaugurated where functions of ATMA, concept and operationalization of farm school and role of farmer teacher was deliberated by Florence, ATM. Piholi Zhimomi was appointed as the farm school teacher. Meanwhile, farmers groups were also mobilized and imparted training on the roles and responsibilities of self help groups and vegetable cultivation. Dragon fruit cuttings, vegetable seeds and a Knapsack were distributed to the members, the release said.
