Dimapur, May 16 (MExN): In order to encourage farmers and also enrich their knowledge on protection and conservation of rich bio-diversity associated with bamboo forest, ATMA Dimapur, Kuhuboto Block conducted training cum exposure visit to ‘Nagaland Bamboo Resource Centre’ on May 13.
Shakiba and Kevin, member NBM took the initiatives in guiding the farmers to various processing units under NBRC. The farmers were enlightened on how Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency works and functions and how various projects are taken up and implemented.
The farmers were first shown and explained on how bamboo treatment processing is done, and then they were taken to the bamboo charcoal production unit. There, the guide explained on the three different technologies (i.e., Chinese, Japanese and Indian) of how bamboo charcoal production is done.
The farmers also visited to bamboo sticks production unit, bamboo mat production unit, bamboo emporium cum consignment sale depot and bamboo museum. The farmers were encouraged and satisfied by the visit to the bamboo resource centre, a press release received here stated.
