ATMA, Kohima Inter-district tour to Pfütsero

KOHIMA, JUNE 7 (MExN): ATMA, Kohima district organised inter-district farmers tour to Pfütsero under Phek district on June 5 with farmer representatives from all the blocks under Kohima district.  

A press release here stated that the team visited Kiwi Farm School of Ngupetso Kapfo at Tsiikozhie, Pfutsero village, Floriculture and Nursery Units of Horticulture farm, Horticulture Department, Phek District andCabbage farm of Zeweii, a progressive farmer at Lekromi .  

The tour team was led by Deputy Project Director, Rokoshüno Angela and her co-functionaries of ATMA, Kohima district, the release added.  

Ngupetso Kapfo, Kiwi Farm School farmer sharing his experiences stated that the farm was set-up in 2007 with 100 saplings. He infromed that, presently there were 1200 Kiwi plants with a total yield production per annum of 2600 kg approximately while marketing was done basing on grade system as Grade A- Rs 150, Grade B-100 and Grade C-80 to local markets, Moa gate and Guhawati.  

He also shared that training and pruning of the plant was important for disease free and high yield production. The demand of labour cost for maintenance of the field is high, he added. He also demonstrated on grafting of kiwi plant. The farmer has also started few numbers of Persimom plantations and a small nursery unit.  

Zeweii, a progressive farmer at Lekromi shared the marketing strategies of the cultivated cabbages in Kohima and Dimapur stating that it is of great demand.
