Tuensang, August 20 (MExN): The Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Tsaru Block, Tuensang district inaugurated a Piggery Farm school at Tronger village on August 17. The programme was attended by 43 farmers from 3 villages along with ATMA functionaries.


A press release issued by the Tsaru Block, ATMA Tuensang stated that the Piggery farm school was inaugurated by BTM, Dr T Arenmongla. During the inaugural programme she highlighted the concept of farm school. Mulingmong Sangtam was appointed as farm teacher along with 10 other progressive farmers as farm students, the release added.


It stated that trainings and demonstrations as well as mobilization of farmers group were also conducted on the same day where Thritiba Sangtam, A.O, BTT Convenor of Tsaru block spoke on the topic “Avenue of backyard piggery enterprise” and “Pig feeds formulation and pig care”. Resources persons Khatemenla, ATM gave training on “Propagation and plant protection management of tree bean (Parkia spp). Tiyongnaro, ATM gave a demonstration on “Small scale composting of pig manure.” Imlinukshi, ATM gave a demonstration on “Uses of Biofertilizers” and Dr T Arenmongla gave training on “Preparation of Potato chips.”


Meanwhile, mobilization of farmers group was also conducted where 5 new Self-Help Groups (SHGs) under the nomenclature Amiili SHG and Ajengcho SHG from Trongar village; Lisela SHG and Alongdi SHG from Longkhetpeh village and Threzeh SHG from Tonglongsor village were mobilized. A revolving fund of Rs. 10,000 each was also deposited to Amiili SHG and Lisela SHG, in their accounts through Direct Benefit transfer (DBT).Inputs for farm school as well as bio-fertilizers were given to the farmers, it added.
